Add ability to add breakpoints to multiple lines at once

Abdu 4 years ago updated by Leo Omri Finkelstein 4 years ago 4

I would like to add breakpoints at once to multiple selected lines. DebugStudio extension does this but it's buggy. Also DebugStudio has always enabled breakpoint which is nice too.

Hi Abdu,

This is an interesting suggestion, however, we don't quite understand the need for it. Can you please describe a scenario in which you'd want to add multiple Breakpoints on arbitrary lines?

OzCode already has a feature that allows you to add a Breakpoint to every method/property, you can access it by clicking on the class name and using the quick actions.

Hi Abdu,

OzCode already has a feature that allows you to add a Breakpoint to every method/property, you can access it by clicking on the class name and using the quick actions.

Sometimes I would like to have a breakpoint in every line in a method and some methods can be long. Instead of setting a breakpoint one by one, a single step saves time. Sometimes I like hitting F5 after each line and observe the outcome from executing each line. Ozcode's current breakpoint in every method is helpful. Cover a whole method with breakpoints goes even further.

The other suggestion of a permanent breakpoint so that when I disable all breakpoints (sometimes I have many of them all over the app and I don't want the app to keep hitting a breakpoint) the important breakpoints do not get disabled. I don't have to remember to set them again as they can be across the app. I wouldn't even remember which ones are the important ones. My manual hack was to use bookmarks to remember their locations.

The more flexibility I have for setting/unsetting breakpoints, the more helpful it will be for me. Ozcode is all about making this happen. :)

The DebugStudio extension works for the most part. This request is low priority.

I definitely relate to disabling all breakpoints except for the really important ones :) we will definitely explore ways to make handling a big amount of breakpoints easier in a future release.
