Ability to enter a number for search depth level

Tony Henrich 7 years ago updated by Jonny Garrett 6 years ago 2
The incremental search level depth is a nice feature but there are times when I want to search way deep in one shot. I know the search might take a while but in these cases I would let it run and come back to it later. It would still be quicker than clicking 'Search Deeper several times. I also noticed that Search Deeper starts again from a few higher levels and then deeper. This might contribute to even longer multiple searches instead of one single deep search unless the deep search would behave the same way.

Thank you very much for your feedback, Tony. Indeed, you are correct in that each time you click "Search Deeper", we have to re-search the entire object graph, going two levels deeper each time you hit the button.

Currently, you can only configure the default amount of levels through OzCode->Options->General, but we will consider making this option available directly from within the Search UI in the future.

I think this is a great idea. On the search window beside the Search deeper button there should be an integer spinedit that allows you to specify how many levels deeper you want to search, so a default of 1 would enable just one level deeper than the current level. I think the current level is 2 deeper each time. 1 might be faster for some users, this would allow a user preference to set the default deeper search level and reconfigure it at search time.
