Add support for VS 14

Aleksander Heintz 6 years ago updated by Omer Raviv (CTO) 6 years ago 3
I know this is still just a CTP, but some of us are already using it. A lot of extensions for VS 13 JustWorks(TM) in 14, so my (completely unqualified) guess is that it's just some configuration + update to the installer that's needed.

I also wouldn't mind if this was a beta/alpha/unsupported release as long as I can use it, and it doesn't crash more than once in a while xD.

This would be much appreciated, otherwise I can't use OzCode for my main development which is on VS 14 CTP at the moment.

Hi Alexander,

As we just now released v1.0, the work supporting the next Visual Studio already began, however we do not have any plans to support VS "14" at this early stage.

OzCode relies a lot on implementation details of both the language and debugging services of Visual Studio, and for VS 14 they were both completely re-implemented by Microsoft using Roslyn.

We certainly plan to support the entire C# 6 feature set and the new Roslyn engine in the (near) future, however it's way too early. In addition, VS "14" is currently at its first CTP, it is not intended to be used in production, and cannot be even installed side-by-side with previous versions of Visual Studio. While VS "14" support is definitely coming, it will take a while longer.

Thank you for understanding.

Is there a beta release or something that we can try with the VS 2015 preview?

Not yet, but we are working on it and hope to release one soon.
