Pin down the inspector window

Piotr Kula 6 years ago updated by Omer Raviv (CTO) 6 years ago 2

When I hover over the inspector window and drill down the values I want I sometimes want to write then into another document - Like when using a new DLL or debugging some hectic stuff. But as soon as i click outside VS the inspecting windows disappears and I have to drill down again.. Is there a way to have "PIN" on the entire window to prevent it from closing? Or at least remember the last place I was looking at and reopen it with the size and the location.

Hello Piotr, thanks for being in touch! Yes, there is a way to do this: when you hover on the left side of the data-tip, you will see a semi-transparent pin-icon . Clicking it pins the item to the document.

Unfortunately, it is a bit too hard to find at the moment. We've heard from other users who could easily not find it as well, and we will definitely make it easier to spot.

OH right. From years of VS that pin always meant quick watch or somthing. Did not use that at all. I was expecting a pin on the edge of the window and blindly ignored that pin with assumptions.

As I have been conditioned to search for this Pin in VS to keep the windows "on top"

But thanks for the reply. That is great news :) I shal click more buttons and see what happens.

Ah, I see what you mean. You are not the first to be 'blind' to that icon - we will definitely need to change it to something more discoverable.
