Ability to dock the inspect dialog

Daniel Green 4 years ago updated by Omer Raviv (CTO) 4 years ago 3

It would help to be able to dock the inspect dialog, in the way that other VS windows (e.g. Watch) can be docked

Thanks for your feature request, Daniel! Sorry, I'm not sure I fully understand - can you please clarify exactly which window you mean by "the inspect dialog"? Do you mean the window that appears when you hover over a variable (the DataTip window)?

Hi Omer

Sorry, I meant the Reveal dialog.

It's the feature of OzCode I use the most by a long way, so personally I would be happy for this to receive the most focus from your developers in terms of making it faster and easier to use.

It would be useful to be able to dock it, resize it, drag it by clicking + holding anywhere on it (not just on the small drag icon in the corner), have its contents redraw during a scroll.

Thanks

Gotcha, thanks for clarifying! Indeed all the improvements you've mentioned are important to us as well. In terms of docking it, if you haven't seen it, you can right click an item and select "Add To Watch". This will add the item to Visual Studio's Watch window. While OzCode doesn't yet replace Visual Studio's Watch window, so you won't be able to use OzCode features like the Stars and the Search there, this might suffice as a temporary workaround.

We plan to replace the native Watch window in a future update, which will make this whole experience a lot more convinient, as well as implementing those UX improvements that you mentioned.
