Make QuickWatch search show full path of an object in the object hierarchy

Tony Henrich 6 years ago updated by Omer Raviv (CTO) 6 years ago 0
When I do a search for an object in QuickWatch, it shows it's one level under under o bject, say Object1. I remove the search keyword and go to Object1 and do not find my object. It's under some base class under Object1. I would like it if the search shows the full path from Object1 so I know where it is. Also I can't Star (*) the object in the search area which could have helped me find it quickly in the tree. Nor can I expand an object if it's a collection. Everything seems to work only outside of the search area.

Thank you very much for the feedback, Tony! We are well aware of these problems and plan to make the hierarchy presented when Searching/Comparing more similar to the hierarchy that's presented in the regular debugging experience.

Please note that when doing a Search, you can 'open' or 'close' the "Eye" icon for the node you are interested in. When the Eye is closed, only items that match the Search text will be presented, but when it's open, all items are presented. So if, for instance, you have one member of a collection that matches the search text, but you want to see other items in that collection, just 'Open' the eye icon at the collection level.
