QuickAttack to process name instead of process ordinal position

Tony Henrich 6 years ago updated 6 years ago 2
When I do a Quickattach, I choose a process from a list of processes. However this is time consuming every time I do a quickattach. So I create a shortcut in the toolbar. The problem is that when I create a shortcut, I choose the process and the shortcut depends on the ordinal position. The shortcut would be like QuickAttach to process 6'. Process 6 is w3wp.exe which is the process I want to attach to. But if in the future w3wp.exe is not process #6 anymore, the shortcut would attach to whatever process happens to be in position 6. Then I have to delete the shortcut and create a new one depending on where w3wp.exe is. Is there a better way to do this? Can the entries also be named according to process name so it's 'QuickAttach to w3wp.exe' instead of  'QuickAttach to process 6'? I guess I have to find out where VS keeps the shortcut definitions and rename it there.

Thanks for your feedback, Tony! We plan to make some usability improvements to QuickAttach, one of which will be adding an option to 'Pin' processes, so it would still should you the most recently attached processes, but if you Pin w3wp.exe to position 6, it will be fixed and never change.

Actually the position changes. I have seen it change several times. I just clicked on my custom button which was set to say #6 and Visual Studio complained that whatever process is taking position #6 now doesn't exist. Then when I go to QuickAttach w3wp.exe, it's now in #7.

Are you saying the list of processes is a static list in OzCode?
